Bungy jumping is an activity in which a person jumps off from a high place with one end of an rubber cord attached to his/her ankles and the other end tied to the jumping-off point. When the person jumps, the cord will stretch to take up the energy of the fall, then the jumper will fly upwards as the cord snaps back. The jumper oscillates up and down until the initial energy of the jump is dissipated.
Bungy Nepal at the Last Resort may be the most spectacular jump on the planet. At 160 meters high in a tropical gorge with the Bhote Kosi, one of the world's wildest rivers, raging below, Bungy Nepal is Nepal's Ultimate Rush and one of the longest free-falls in the world.
The jump site was designed by one of New Zealand's leading Bungy consultants and has been staffed and operated by some of the most experienced Western Jump Masters in the business, working to exacting international standards to guarantee your safety.
Bungy Nepal takes place on a 166 meter wide steel suspension bridge. Swiss designed specially for bungy jumping with a 4x safety factor, the bridge has a loading factor of 250 kg per running meter. This means that the bridge will hold 250 x 166 = 41500 kg or 41.5 tonnes. And... those are Swiss measurements! Over 6000 meters of steel wire was used to build the bridge that joins two sides of a beautiful valley. Before the construction the local villagers had to walk five hours to cross the river gorge.
RAFTINGS
Tumbling from the snow-capped peaks of Tibet, the Bhote Kosi river provides some of the most exciting rafting and kayaking in Nepal, and is quite possibly one of the best short river trips offered anywhere in the world. The Bhote is a very steep and very continuous mountain stream; a unique combination of exceptionally fun and challenging rapids without it ever getting past the point of recreation.
The thundering of the next rapid is never far downstream and only occasional pools of calm give a chance to reflect on the awesome beauty surrounding the river. Emerald green fields are terraced high above the river on precipitous slopes, curious villagers lining suspension bridges are amazed as we plunge through cascading waves and chutes of foam.
Rafting on the Bhote Kosi is a full body experience, with much more involved than simply paddling forward and backward. One of the most common paddle commands on the Bhote Kosi is "hold on!" During low flows the Bhote Kosi is a classic run on a steep mountain river. When the water starts coming up the Bhote Kosi becomes a solid class 4+ river, requiring a serious commitment from all team members.
The beautiful location, thrilling, adrenaline charged whitewater, and the ability to stay in the luxurious Last Resort make this one of our favorite rivers. Family raft trips and regular kayak clinics are available on the lower river sections and there is no better place to experience the thrill and gratification of learning to kayak in the Himalayas.
